a day in the life of a potter

woke early.  its going to be hot.  right now I'm trying to use up every pound of damp clay in my studio.  its harder than it sounds because its necessary to change clays and make meaningful work with a small quantity of repetitions.  First thing though, I glazed stoneware platters in my black gold studio glaze.  also in the kiln - honey pitchers, ramekins and dessert boats for palace cafe.  Next - take some pics to share on the blog.

cups in the longest day of the year.
lots of sun.  enjoy the evening breeze,
cause when it dies its hot.

Bird mugs.  The original is a raven - or blackbird - depending on your
traditions and legends

Gate to the ridge: Oil on wood panel.  16" x 20". wip. Or " Indian tobacco" - sorry if this name is not correct, but it is the only one I've ever heard given to this plant.

solstice ultimate

Solstice tourney.  Maybe the last one I'll attend.  Mostly because the man from the south land is moving to the pacific northwest.  chances are the 500 milers from austin will not make it back in 2016.  But for this year, we came clsoe - as close as we have - to doing it right.  I did my part with lemonade and snacks, a tailgate picnic to stem the tide of hunger in the shade and bridge the gap between play and dinner.  the cast was all assembled. sam and allie and reed and john.  libby and jenny (dont want no part of those meat sandwiches).  Griz and doush from stilly.  And others I can't recall or did not meet.  Three wins for the team.  two over the mandatory one.   I made it out after my nap.  Following a successful cherry street market.  hurray!  Anyway - best solstice yet. Rawhide was there.  and scissortail too.
